Overcoming Life’s Toughest Challenges:

My Journey to High Performance Coaching

Life has a way of testing us in ways we never expect, and it’s in those moments that our mindset, resilience, and focus determine everything. My journey to becoming a Certified High Performance Coach is a story of transformation, forged through years of working with elite warriors, saving lives in the wilderness, and overcoming one of the rarest and most aggressive forms of cancer.

My Family:

The Foundation of My Life

My wife, Jen, and I met in college—it was love at first sight. We married shortly after and are celebrating our 30th wedding anniversary this year. Time has truly flown! Together, we’ve raised two wonderful children, Gavin and Payton, and Gavin’s amazing fiancée Julie, who are now young adults forging their own paths. They live by the values Jen and I instilled in them: integrity, kindness, hard work, and a focus on performance. My family has been my greatest source of strength and inspiration through every chapter of my life.

Combat Ready:

Lessons from the World’s Elite

For a decade, I had the honor of working with the most elite warriors on the planet. My company helped Delta Force, Navy SEALs, Marine Raiders, Air Force Pararescuemen, Army Rangers, and other special operations teams achieve peak physical performance, recover from injuries, and build unshakable resilience.

As an instructor and coach, I didn’t just teach—I learned. I learned the discipline it takes to be world-class, the value of training with purpose, and the unwavering mindset to get back up no matter how hard life knocks you down. These lessons didn’t just stay on the battlefield; they became the foundation of how I approach every challenge in life—and how I now coach others to overcome theirs.

Search & Rescue:

Serving With Purpose

The drive to serve my community led me to become a Search & Rescue technician with Pennsylvania Wilderness Search And Rescue (PaWSAR). For nearly five years, I’ve been part of a team that locates lost and missing people across 11 counties in eastern Pennsylvania, training weekly and deploying in all conditions, at all hours.

This work demands resilience, teamwork, and the ability to perform under pressure—skills I first honed with elite warriors. It’s not just about finding people; it’s about embodying the Pararescuemen’s motto: “These things we do…that others may live.”

High performers are often driven by a deep sense of purpose, and I bring that same commitment to my coaching. Whether it’s saving lives in the wilderness or helping someone achieve their next breakthrough, service is at the core of what I do.

The resilience and focus I gained through Combat Ready and Search & Rescue became the foundation for navigating the greatest challenge of my life.

My Story:

Resilience in the Face of Cancer

In 2023, my toughest battle began. My wife, Jen, noticed what looked like a bruise on my neck. It wasn’t. It was an incredibly rare and aggressive cancer, diagnosed in only 50-100 people per year. Only 0.003% of the common form metastasizes, but mine had—and it was fast-moving.

Thanks to an incredible medical team, my journey included a 4-hour neck surgery, seven weeks of daily radiation and chemo, another surgery to fix paralyzed vocal cords, and months of physical therapy. As I fought my way back, I tore my patella tendon—adding another surgery to the mix.

I went from never having surgery to three in 15 months. I lost 30 pounds of muscle, endured side effects from a daily chemo drug, and faced physical and emotional challenges I never imagined.

But here’s the thing: I never let it define me. I joked, laughed, and stayed relentlessly positive, even when doctors wondered if I truly understood the gravity of my situation. My wife, my angel through it all, joked that I was “annoyingly positive.” She was right, and I owe so much to her unwavering support.

Without the resilience, discipline, and mindset I developed during my time with elite warriors and in search and rescue, I might not have had the tools to get through this. High Performance Coaching principles—like focus, positivity, and clarity—kept me moving forward, and science shows that a positive attitude can dramatically influence recovery outcomes.

Why I Became A Certified High Performance Coach:

My cancer journey was the catalyst. Watching how people responded to my positivity during such chaos made me realize the power of these principles. I thought, “Let’s bottle this up and share it with as many people as possible.”

Now, I help high achievers overcome their challenges, achieve their goals, and live their lives at the highest level. Whether you’re facing a personal battle, striving for professional success, or simply wanting more out of life, I bring the same resilience, focus, and commitment to your success that carried me through my toughest moments.

The journey to high performance isn’t easy, but with the right mindset and strategies, it’s absolutely possible. My mission is to show you how.
